Short-Term Use of Salbutamol and Salbutamol Inhalers
Salbutamol is the generic name for the brand-name medicationof
and inhaler medication for bronchospasm. It is used to relieve symptoms of bronchospasm, such as shortness of breath, wheezing or coughing.
Salbutamol Inhaler is used to treat symptoms of bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease. This is the most common side effect of the drug. The brand-name medication Salbutamol is known as the brand-name inhaler Ventolin. It works by making the breathing passages more dilated, thus decreasing the amount of mucus in the lungs.
Salbutamol Inhaler is also used to treat symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It relieves the symptoms of asthma and COPD by reducing the production and secretion of certain chemicals in the body that cause inflammation and narrowing of the airways.
Salbutamol Inhaler can also be used to treat symptoms of acute exacerbations of asthma, such as shortness of breath. Asthma is a chronic condition that affects the airways of the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Salbutamol Inhaler can help to relieve asthma symptoms such as coughing, wheezing or shortness of breath. It can also be used to treat symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by inhibiting a specific enzyme called alveolar-nerve tissue-derived bronchodilator protein (BVOP) which relaxes the airways and increases airflow to the lungs.
Salbutamol Inhaler should only be used as directed by a doctor. If you are using a Ventolin inhaler and feel that the inhalerister is not adequately relaxing, consult your doctor or pharmacist for a suitable alternative. Salbutamol Inhaler should not be used to treat acute bronchospasm or a severe allergic reaction (such as asthma) to ventolin or to treat an asthma attack in children or adults. Salbutamol Inhaler is not for use by the elderly, as it can cause dizziness and fainting. Ventolin is used to manage symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults and children over the age of 18. It is also used to reduce the risk of pneumonia in children and adolescents after cardiac surgery.
Ventolin is a bronchodilator that works by relaxing the muscles in the airways of the lungs to allow easier breathing. It is available both as an oral solution and inhaled (via a spacer device) as a bronchodilator. Ventolin inhalers are available in packs of 4 each in a propellant and airtight container. Ventolin is not recommended for use in children below the age of 12 years in these age groups.
Directions for Use:Adults and children from the age of 18 years: Use the mouthpiece device to produce a bronchodilator by mouth. Hold the mouthpiece in your mouth for a short time. Hold the mouthpiece in your mouth for a few seconds and produce a rapid, tight seal of the mouth with the lips. Close the mouthpiece for a short time before using. Ventolin inhaler: Ventolin is for use in the lungs. Take Ventolin by mouth, with or without food. Do not take more Ventolin by mouth than directed for your patient. Patients should take this medication at regular intervals. Do not take this medication more often than directed.

Ventolin is commonly prescribed as an aerosol inhalant administered through an inhaler. For most individuals, two inhalations should be taken every four to six hours. This usually comes out to about two inhalations four times a day. More frequent inhalations are not recommended.
To prevent exercise-induced bronchospasms, it is recommended that you take two inhalations of Ventolin fifteen minutes before physical activity.
The exact dosage and schedule will vary depending on the patient's age, body weight, and severity of the condition. Take the medication exactly as your doctor has instructed.
Do not increase your dosage or discontinue the use of Ventolin unless ordered to do so by your doctor. If you experience any adverse reactions, contact a health care provider. Your dosage may increase or decrease depending on your doctor’s orders.
You should store your medication in a closed container at room temperature, away from extreme heat, extreme cold, moisture, and direct light, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Salbutamol (Ventolin) is a selective beta2-adrenoceptor agonist indicated for the treatment or prevention of bronchospasm. It provides short acting (four hours) bronchodilation in reversible airways obstruction due to asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Salbutamol (Ventolin) has a duration of action of 4 to 6 hours in most patients. Increasing use of β2 agonists may be a sign of worsening asthma. Under these conditions a reassessment of the patient's therapy plan may be required and concomitant glucocorticosteroid therapy should be considered.
